Why Fundraise?
Anyone who anticipates uninsured medical expenses such as relocation or medications related to transplantation should consider fundraising to help offset those expenses. Transplant expenses add up quickly. See the 2008 U.S. Organ and Tissue Transplant Cost Estimates and Discussion.
Fundraising empowers family, friends, neighbors and community by allowing them to help in a concrete way. While these supporters cannot change your medical condition, they will be able to make your healing easier. People want to help. Fundraising with NTAF provides a trusted mechanism for your supporters to do so with full confidence.
NTAF talks with patients to determine whether or not fundraising is feasible given their unique circumstances. Each patient seeking assistance must complete an NTAF application demonstrating financial need.
NTAF works with community volunteers to tailor a plan to meet either ambitious or modest fundraising goals. NTAF can work with fundraising groups both large and small– even if it is just the patient and a few family members or friends.
To date, NTAF has helped patients raise $64 million and has disbursed more than $52 million to pay for patients' out-of-pocket medical expenses.
