John Whitney
NTAF Midwest/West Catastrophic Injury Fund
Fraser, CO
Hello, I'm disabled ski racer, John Whitney, and thank you for your interest in supporting me!
I am a new member of the United States Adaptive Ski Team and was born with a birth defect called Proximal Focal Femoral Deficiency. Consequently, I had my left foot amputated when I was seven months old. I have been skiing since 1990 and racing since 1996 with the National Sports Center for the Disabled Alpine Ski Team which I am still a member of. I was nominated to the USAST in April of 2008 and officially named to the team in August. Although I wear a prosthesis, I do not wear it when I ski. I have made Winter Park, Colorado my home for this season when I am not at USAST camps or racing on the Nor-Am and World Cup circuits.
This season is especially important to me because I will have the opportunity to represent the United States at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Paralympics. Participating in the Paralympics has been a goal of mine since I began racing. This is a very expensive endeavor, so any support is greatly appreciated.
I have chosen to fundraise with NTAF Catastrophic Injury Fund in part because NTAF provides both tax-deductibility and fiscal accountability to contributors. Contributors can be sure that funds contributed will be used only to pay or reimburse expenses related to my adaptive ski racing. To make a contribution to this fundraising campaign:
