Dear Caring Friends,

NTAF Emergency Grants provide tangible help to people in dire situations. Since 2006, when we gave our first Emergency Grant, we have helped more than 375 families facing life-threatening financial dilemmas as they struggle to pay for costly care. Among them:

• A child whose family could not afford housing near the hospital where he received leukemia treatment.
• A father out of work because of illness, with no money to keep health insurance while waiting for a transplant.
• A mother whose insurance paid only a small fraction of the cost of life-sustaining post-transplant medication.
• A husband with a spinal cord injury whose car could no longer transport him to medical treatment.
• A wife whose hard-won independence after injury was threatened by her lack of an appropriate wheelchair.

For each family an NTAF Emergency Grant filled a gaping service void, offering a safety net so patients could receive crucial care.
